Helsinki and American Cars

I was in Helsinki yesterday. I arrived at 5pm, but that’s not a problem as the sun doesn’t really set at this time of year. My hotel gave me a bike to ride around town. A bike with the name of the hotel on it. The woman at the desk said, “it’s alright for you to ride on the sidewalk, because everyone can see you’re a tourist.” I kept seeing vintage American cars, and eventually it all became too much for me. When I saw one at a stop light I asked them what the deal was. Turns out the first Friday of every month all the rednecks of Finland descend on Helsinki for a hootenany. Well, who would have guessed?

After the redneck fest I found a Mexican restaurant and a ginger viking with a big beard to eat dinner with. All said, Helsinki was mighty fine.
